Black silicon carbide is crafted from a blend of quartz sand, petroleum coke, and high-grade silica, refined at soaring temperatures in a resistance furnace. Its hardness positions it between corundum and diamond, boasting greater mechanical strength than corundum, while retaining a characteristic brittleness and sharpness. Green silicon carbide, on the other hand, is derived from petroleum coke and premium silica, with a touch of salt as an additive, also processed in a high-temperature resistance furnace. Like its counterpart, its hardness lies between corundum and diamond, and it surpasses corundum in mechanical strength.

Black Silicon Carbide - A Powerhouse Material This material is distinctively brittle and sharp, renowned for its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. With a Knoop hardness ranging from 3100 to 3280 kg/mm², it stands as a formidable abrasive.

Green Silicon Carbide - Superior Synthetic Carborundum This is an engineered brittle carborundum providing exceptional thermal conductivity and remarkable strength, unaltered even at temperatures up to 1000ºC, surpassing alumina by 7.5 times.

Renowned for its extreme hardness, green silicon carbide boasts a Mohs hardness of 9.4 and a Knoop hardness of 2600, ranking just behind CBN and B4C.

Silicon carbide abrasives are expertly suited for applications involving cast iron, non-ferrous metals, rock, leather, and rubber. Additionally, they are widely utilized as refractory materials and in metallurgical processes.
